Birth Photography Special

After starting the journey into birth photography I know my heart is calling me in this direction.
I'd love to build up my portfolio.
I'd like to offer a special to the first 5 people that book a shoot with me for their birth.

My birth photography services are normally $300+.
For $200 you will receive:
Travel up to 45 minutes from Sulphur, LA
Approximately 4-5 hours of photography time
(1-2 of those being postpartum)
A proofing site to view all your photos available approx. 1 week after your birth.
This is available for ordering any prints you may want from me and will be up on the site for 60 days.
A CD of all edited photos, approx. 75-150.
(Mailed within 1 week after your photos are edited.)
This CD will include web size photos for you to share if you would like on your social sites.

To take this one step further if you would like to combine this offer with my newborn photography services add $150 to the price and you will get:
1-2 hours photography time

Conceptual Self Portraits

"I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best."
-Frida Kahlo

I did some of my greatest personal and artistic growth when I started doing self portraits. I found that it truly helped me understand the concepts, the poses, the emotions and all the in between that goes into making an art piece.
I however, had gotten burnt out with concepts.
Burnt out with self portraits.
Burnt out with the feeling of so many emotions.
Burnt out with the set up.
Burnt out with the tear down.

I missed it.
My soul missed the process.
It is a bit of work to do a conceptual self portrait but in the end it is actually easier for me.
I know what emotion I want to portray.
I am always there so I can try out the concepts on a whim.
I don't have to try to explain to someone my vision.
I just do it.

I learned last night through creating a scene.
Creating an atmosphere.
And through feeling through my lens.
That I need to get back into doing this more.

"I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration."
-Frida Kahlo

My family.

I took some family photos of MY family this past week. It was long overdue. I didn't get as many usable photos as I do in a normal photo shoot but here are my favorites from the shoot.

And I think this is my favorite "Man" photo I've taken. My husband definitely rocked this look. :D

It was hot.
It was buggy.
It was humid.
It was just yucky.
But we had fun and my family are all such good sports!

Photographing Men

Photographing men is one of those unknown territories to me. I have done it here and there, including my own husband, and during family sessions but to actually do a conceptual or portrait session just one on one with a man is slightly intimidating to me. I don't know what it is. I guess with women I know how to work with their angles and work to get feminine shots or whatever we may be going for but with men, oi.
I need to step out of my comfort zone more and just do it! Can someone tell my husband however that to practice I don't need a bunch of faces like this from him? :D

Here's some of my favorite photos I've taken of him.
